A Little Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Kris. I’m a Marine Engineer with about 10 years in the industry.

I started right after high school with a short time at the Maritime Academy, then went on to earn my BS in Heavy Equipment Engineering and Technology from Ferris State University. Since then I’ve worked on large cutter suction dredges and bucket dredges in Norfolk, Virginia, and later on research vessels and tug boats back home in Michigan. I’ve been lucky to see a wide range of equipment and working environments over the years.

All that time on the water taught me how complicated and stressful vessel operations can be. That’s really what led me to start building this app — I wanted something that could make life aboard a little easier, more organized, and a bit less chaotic.

About Big Bear Marine Services

Big Bear Marine Services (BBMS) is a small company I started in 2026. We’re still very much in the early days. We’ve been building, testing, debugging, testing some more, and slowly trying to turn an idea into something useful.

The goal is simple: create a practical tool that works alongside whatever systems you’re already using — whether you’re on a small boat, a large fleet, a marina, or a research vessel. We’re not trying to replace anything you already have in place. We just want to add one more helpful tool to your toolbox.

Right now we have a small group of beta testers using the app on the Midwest and East Coast. We’re learning every day from their feedback.
